How Much Does The Temperature Transmitter Probe Extend Into The Pipe?
Sep 28, 2014
When the temperature transmitter is installed, the way it contacts the fluid should be determined according to the nature of the measured substance, and the installation location should be selected according to the purpose of the measured temperature; at the same time, the insertion depth of its temperature sensing element should be determined according to the requirements of relevant standards .
In the production process of natural gas production and transportation, the most widely used temperature transmitter is for natural gas metering. Therefore, the installation of the temperature transmitter for natural gas metering is introduced in this section.
1. The way the temperature transmitter contacts the fluid
There are two ways for the temperature measuring part of the temperature transmitter to contact the fluid: direct contact and indirect contact, which are open and closed on the temperature sleeve. Through experiments, it is concluded that the temperature transmitters are installed at the same temperature measurement point of the same metering tube using the "U"-shaped sleeve pipe and the "||"-shaped sleeve pipe, and the temperature values measured by the two are basically the same; However, the air must be stopped when the temperature transmitter with the "||" type sleeve tube installation method is overhauled, which increases the difficulty of overhaul and also has a certain impact on the continuity of measurement. Therefore, it is not recommended to use the "||" type sleeve tube installation method of the temperature transmitter.
2. Installation location of temperature transmitter
Related standards stipulate that the temperature transmitter in the standard orifice plate metering system can be installed on the upstream or downstream side of the orifice plate. Experiments also show that the temperature measured by installing a digital thermometer on the upstream and downstream of the orifice plate is not much different, and the impact on measurement is also minimal; but because the installation of a temperature transmitter upstream of the orifice plate has higher requirements for the process, Therefore, it is recommended to use the downstream installation method of the orifice plate, and the specific installation position is within the range of 5D to 15D on the downstream side of the orifice plate.
3. Insertion depth of temperature sensing element
Both the glass rod thermometer and the digital thermometer should be installed in strict accordance with the relevant specifications. The temperature sleeve or jack should extend into the pipe to about one-third of the nominal inner diameter; its insertion method can be straight or oblique, or oblique. The plug should be against the airflow and make an angle of 45° with the axis of the straight pipe section.
