How Does Thyroid Puncture Biopsy Needle Do?

By touching the thyroid gland or guided by ultrasound, the doctor uses a syringe or gun fitted with a puncture needle to extract the contents of the diseased thyroid gland (including the thyroid tissue itself or nodules).

These components are then sent to the hospital pathology department for analysis and evaluation, which completes a thyroid needle biopsy.

In order to avoid pain, some hospitals will give patients local anesthesia before the puncture.
