How Does Kidney Puncture Biopsy Needle Do

Jul 30, 2020

Renal biopsy is a routine examination in the department of nephrology, which plays an important role in determining the pathological types of renal diseases, making treatment plans and judging the prognosis. Before performing kidney puncture, the blood coagulation function, platelet status and blood pressure of the human body should be evaluated first to make the blood pressure less than 160/80mmHg to avoid possible bleeding during the puncture. At present, puncture is carried out under the guidance of color ultrasound, so related complications will be avoided, that is, there will be no major complications such as damage to surrounding tissues, organs and nerves. Under color ultrasound, the needle can be clearly seen out of shape in the human body. When the needle reaches the kidney, a kidney tissue with a length of about 1.5cm-1.8cm can be taken out for pathological examination. After the puncture, the local puncture site is compressed and the patient is instructed to lie supine in bed for 24 hours, especially in absolute bed for the first 6 hours. Do not turn over or sit up. Avoid strenuous activities for 1 month after puncture to avoid renal bleeding. Perirenal hematoma may occur during the puncture process, which generally does not need special attention and can be absorbed by itself, but requires extended rest time.
