Epidural Puncture From Shallow To Deep

Epidural space: The narrow space between the dura mater and the periosteum and the ligamentum flavum on the inner surface of the spinal canal is called the epidural space. There are loose connective tissue, adipose tissue, lymphatic vessels, and intravertebral venous plexus through which spinal nerve roots pass. It is not communicated with the lower intracranial and slightly negative pressure. Lumbar puncture can be performed clinically to inject anesthetic into this gap to numb the spinal nerve roots.
